The Robinsons Group manages six retail entities that trade under the following brands - Robinsons, John Little, Marks & Spencer, Principles, Trucco and River Island.
Robinson and Company, the founding company, started trading in Singapore in 1858. In 1955, Robinson and Company acquired John Little, which was established in 1842. Marks and Spencer, which traded under the St. Michael name first operated in 1958 in a John Little Store. The St. Michael name was officially changed to Marks and Spencer in 1994. Robinson and Company also manages the Marks and Spencer stores in Malaysia.
There are 2 Robinsons stores. The flagship store is located at Centrepoint and the second store is at Raffles City. By September 2007, a new Robinsons store will be opened in Malaysia at Mid Valley Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.
The Robinsons Group also manages a standalone Principles store and a Trucco store at VivoCity. Principles and Trucco are also available in the 2 Robinsons department stores.
There are 7 John Little stores strategically located at Marina Square, Orchard, Specialists' Shopping Centre, Plaza Singapura, Northpoint, Jurong Point and Causeway Point.
Robinsons holds the franchise for Marks & Spencer in Singapore and Malaysia. There are 7 Marks and Spencer stores in Singapore - Centrepoint, Wheelock Place, Parkway Parade, Raffles City, Paragon, Plaza Singapura and VivoCity. In Malaysia, the flagship store is at Suria KLCC with another store located at One Utama. In September 2007, the third Marks & Spencer store will also be opened in Mid Valley Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.
The latest addition to the Robinsons Group - UK's high street fashion chain River Island, opened its doors at VivoCity in Jan 2007 and Raffles City in May 2007.
