Kuala Lumpur – Robinsons officially opened its door to the public today. The Singapore based store which was in Malaysia from 1960 to 1974, was officially opened by YB Dato’ Dr Ng Yen Yen, Deputy Finance Minister.
In her opening speech, the Minister said that the opening of Robinsons was timely, particularly as this year is Visit Malaysia Year and Tourist arrivals are targeted at 20.1 million throughout the year.
After her speech, the Minister was accompanied by 6 lions of various colours to the front of the store for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Together with John Cheston, the Chief Executive Officer of Robinson Group and Robert Tan, Managing Director of IGB Corp, the three of them cut the ribbon to signify the official opening of the store.
The Minister then accompanied by other dignitaries then toured the 3 floors of the store, ahead of the estimated 2000 over invited guests.
“We have returned because Kuala Lumpur is a true world class city and it was the first place we looked when we decided to expand beyond Singapore.” said John Cheston .
Guests were then treated to a very special fashion show on the first floor that showcased various international brands such as Trucco, Coast, Fenn Wright Manson, Jessica, Matinique, Blend and other exclusive labels worn by 20 models lead by model, Junisa Simon, Robinsons’ Platinum Card ambassador.
Earlier in the morning, Robinsons launched the first ever retail co-branded platinum card, named the OCBC Robinsons VISA Platinum Card. This card is a collaboration between Robinson & Co, (Singapore) Pte Ltd and OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and was jointly launched by John Cheston and Dato’ Albert Yeoh, Director and CEO of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad.
This is just another example of giving the Robinsons customer a more enhanced shopping experience. The card will enable the discerning customer to enjoy a more superior shopping experience and the finer points of customer service
Members of the media were also treated to an exclusive tour of the 3 story floor by various Robinsons key personnel.

Robinsons will have in-store personal stylist, lingerie advisors, nursery and sleep advisors to guide shoppers in making the right decision when making purchases.
